Television news reports suggest that a new k-12 multi sports complex has been targeted for the site of the mill, just off rt 36. Also, plans for an amphitheatre were also announced for trhe site. The mill is in the process of being torn down. The demolition of the mill should take up to 2 years to complete, so any plans for the site are that far off into the future. Appvion closed down in 2021, putting some 300 employees out of work. Local leaders are excited about the proposed sports complex and theatre because no taxpayer dollars are targeted for either project. As for those plans, they are only in the discussion phase, with nothing agreed to as of this time.
