WJAC reports that police arrested 25 year old Dontae Thomas of Philipsburg for allegedly abusing a child in his care on February 11th. Police say that the baby had bruises on his body, and was found face down in a tub of water. The child was flown to UPMC Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital for treatment. Thomas told police that he left the bathroom for a minute and came back to find the child face down in the water. After further questioning, Thomas told police that he shook the child the previous day for waking him whole he slept. Doctors told polcie that the child suffered near fatal injuries as a result of the abuse. Thomas is charged with aggravated assault and child endangerment. He is locked up in the Clearfield County jail on $150,000 bail.
