Among the busy slate of shows on tap for this weekend is an opportunity to catch Altoona-based nu-metal rockers Hate Grenade as they have begun touring in support of their new album, “iSociety.” After kicking off their tour on Thursday in Rochester, New York, Hate Grenade entertains the hometown fan base at McGarvey’s on Friday night, capping a triple-bill that also includes Clearfield metalcore specialists Endbringer and State College metal rockers Goatsmoker. The rowdy rocking fun kicks off at 9 p.m. After Friday, Hate Grenade heads southward for a series of shows in Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina and Alabama, with more to be added.
Altoona native and former NBC “The Voice” contestant Jimmy Mowery is all over the area this weekend. On Friday night, Jimmy entertains at Ball Buster’s Sports Bar in Cresson beginning at 9 p.m. Jimmy then kicks off a day-long Saturday slate of live music entertainment at Cafe 210 West in State College starting at noon, before performing an “Emo Night” event with DJ Matt Rodriquez and other guests at the Altoona Grand Hotel’s Grouse’s Nest starting at 8 p.m.
And for those planning to attend the Altoona Curve’s Saturday kickoff event, “CurveFest,” area country performer Zac Grace will provide the musical entertainment. Food, refreshments and special offers on Altoona Curve tickets will be available. “CurveFest” kicks off at 10 a.m.
