News reports indicate that the accident occurred shortly before midnight Saturday at the Traverse Commons, a mile from the IUP campus. State police report that the collapse is under investigation, and no information was released pertaining to what caused the collapse. 7 of the injured were taken to the Indiana Hospital, while five others received treatment at the scene. Troopers say that people were celebrating “IUPatty’s day”, a delayed St. Patrick’s day celebration. It is not known how many of the injured were IUP students, and who were just guests at the celebration.
