Yesterday we reported to you that Duncansville Boro Councilwoman Annette Lewis led a petition drive to get a question on the ballot for Duncansville, voting to allow liquor and beer sales in the community. Yesterday, the Blair County board of elections approved the petition, which paves the way for the vote to occur in the may primary. Voters in Duncansville will now go to the polls and vote on whether or not to end the borough’s dry status that has been on the books since November 1935. If the vote goes no, then there will not be an opportunity to secure a liquor license. Lewis told the Altoona Mirror that many of the residents she contacted to sign the petition, had no idea that Duncansville was a dry community.
