A television news report out of Pittsburgh indicates that Robert Bowers has instructed his attorneys to file a motion seeking to remove the death penalty as a possible sentence. Bowers is charged with the shooting at the tree of life synagogue back in 2018, which claimed 11 lives. His attorney says that former Attorney General Bill Barr approved the case as a capital case, but current AG Merrick Garland has not agreed with that decision. And now he wants the death penalty taken off the table. 22 of the 63 charges bowers faces in this case carry the death penalty as punishment. His trial is scheduled to begin later this month.
