Claysburg school board gets prelim budget

The Altoona Mirror reports that the district has unveiled its 23-24 budget, which contains a proposed 6% tax hike, which if voted on and approved, would cost the average homeowner an additional $46 next year. As of today, the budget proposal has revenues projected to be $14.5 million, and projected expenditures at $15.2 million, which leaves a deficit of some $753,500. The district business manager said that this a is a very preliminary budget, and the board will get to work on trying to reduce the deficit. The proposed tax increase would generate $184,000 in additional revenue.
