WTAJ reports that the Everett area school board is proposing closing down the Breezewood elementary school at the end of the 23-24 school year. District superintendent Dave Burkett said that the school could be facing a nearly $2 million deficit by the end of next school year, and they could lose $1 million from ESSR funding in September 2024. A renovation option would cost the district between $13.8 and $22 million. A second option is to merge Breezewood with Everett elementary changing it to a k-5 school, and 3 positions would be eliminated. There are currently 77 students in Breezewood elementary school.
