State news reports indicate that jury selection is underway for the upcoming trial of 50 year old Robert Bowers, who is charged with killing 11 people during sabbath religious activities in October 2018. The report suggest that bowers offered to take life in prison in exchange for federal prosecutors taking the death penalty off the table, they refused. The prosecution is seeking a jury that would be willing to give bowers the death penalty if convicted, while the defense team is pursuing a defense of mental instability and brain impairments. Bowers is facing 11 counts of obstruction of free exercise of religion resulting in death and 11 counts of hate crimes resulting in death.
