Inmate contracts Legionnaire’s disease in prison

According to a report by WTAJ, the inmate was stricken and taken to an area hospital. Dept of Corrections official Maria Bivens says that the disease is not communicable, and at present, no other inmates have complained about being ill. The report also states that SCI Rockview is taking extra precautions to ensure safety at the facility. Legionnaire’s disease is a form of pneumonia, and causes symptoms much like the flu. Bivens said that recent bacteria testing in the area had negative results for bacteria.
