A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that the PA Gaming Control Board has given its approval for a mini casino license for a facility to be housed inside the Nittany Mall complex. A group called Saynocasino.org was fighting the project, saying that gambling would invade and destroy the Penn State community, adversely affect students and will be a drain on the economy. The only matter now standing in the way is the ongoing battle between 2 rival companies vying for the license. SC Gaming has apparently partnered with Bally’s for financing of the casino, a move which the Cordish Corpoatation says is against a 2017 law that would forbid any type of collaberation with Bally’s. Until the court cases are settled, the license will remain in limbo.
