News reports indicate that ground has been broken for the new truck stop for the convenience store chain along old Rt. 220 in Pinecroft. The new store will sit on a corner lot just off of the I-99 exit for Pinecroft at the intersection with old 220. Members of the Little Juniata river association had protested the site, saying that the new facility will harm the river, which is now a cold water trout stream, with runoff that will be caused by construction and the eventual operation. Bill Anderson, president of the river association says his group is extremely disappointed that the Dept of Environmental Protection green lighted the project.
