According to the Altoona Mirror, the budget will contain a property tax increase that will cost property owners in the district any extra $80.21 next school year. The $20.7 million budget is based on the same revenue coming from the state as this year. The reports suggested that there is a substantial deficit with the budget, and that will be rectified with using the fund balance to balance the spending plan. Business manager Greg Gates told the mirror that costs for charter school tuition, special education and current state funding levels have contributed to the deficit. There is another meeting scheduled in June which could have firmer numbers to present.
