News reports indicate that authorities in Bedford County that murder charges against 33 year old Charles McCahan have been dropped. He was charged last year with killing his mother. His attorney said that the DNA evidence collected at the crime scene had not been tested, and when it finally was, it did not match that of McCahan. The victim, Outia McCahan was strangled and killed by blunt force trauma in January of 2022. After spending the past 11 months behind bars, McCahan was freed because dna evidence taken from the victim, did not match that of McCahan. The case is still open, and is being investigated by the attorney generals office.
