Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the May 7 edition of “The Homegrown Rocker,” which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), and from 10 PM to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm)!
We continued our expedition into the mailboxes to uncover more new music from local and regional bands and artists on this week’s program! Making their debuts this week were the new single from The Jaded Lips’ forthcoming debut album Lip Service (to be released on June 23), plus songs from Lowjack, Havoc, Mellow Honey, Sterling Koch, Artese N Toad, Alyssa Hankey, Neon Hotel, FeltSideOut and After The Fall! We also updated “Local Music News,” broke out a 1971 hit by The Buoys (who were recently inducted into the Central PA Music Hall Of Fame) for our “Local Music Flashback,” and stepped “Across State Lines” to hear a song by Long Island, New York metal rockers Resist The Temptation! (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94’s website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on “The Professor’s Classroom,” and then scroll down to “Homegrown Rocker Podcast” and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 050723.)

In Local Music News…
The date and performer lineup have been announced for the 10th annual Wam Bam Mountain Jam. The concert and festival will take place on Saturday, July 1, at 1547 East Mountain Road outside Port Matilda. The music kicks off at 1 p.m., with 12 bands and performers. Entertaining in order will be the Chris Bell Duo, Forrester Grey, Luke Cimbala, Homegrown, Daystruck, Goatsmoker, JR Mangan Band, Caledonia, Donny Burns & the 3rd Degree, Broken Fayth, Sidewinder and The Roof. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome. Tents, campers and RV’s are welcome for those staying overnight.
Young Altoona rockers Sweet Desire will be issuing their first-ever single next month. During their performance at last Saturday’s Blair Creators Festival, singer Jordan McCaulley revealed that the group would release their song “Raspberry Joe Blues” on all streaming platforms on Friday, June 9. Expect to hear that song’s debut on the “Homegrown Rocker” during June as well.
The area music scene was saddened this past week by the passing of musician Keith Little on Tuesday (May 2) after a battle with cancer. He was 58. Keith was involved with musical productions at Northern Bedford High School, where he taught science for 30 years. And Keith was a member of several area bands through the years, including playing keys with popular Cambria County rock band Retroactive, and more recently playing guitar and singing with the band Emberstitch. We at the “Homegrown Rocker” extend our condolences to Keith’s family, friends and musical colleagues.
That’s a look at “Local Music News.” Bands and artists with news items to report on the program may email their information to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.
