News reports indicate that the former McCrory’s building in downtown Altoona is being renovated into housing units and for recreational use. New owner Christopher Cook says that the project is intended to bring life back into the downtown area, to go along with what Penn State Altoona has brought to the area. The McCrory building has been falling apart for many years, but cook purchased the building, and now is in the process of a massive renovation plan. The first floor is scheduled to house shops and eateries, whole the second and third floors will have 2 and 3 bedroom apartments. Construction is set to begin soon, and should take about a year to complete.
