A report by WTAJ indicates that Maria Boyd is charged with killing her child nearly 5 years ago. Testimony in the non jury trial stated that first responders arrived at the scene to find the child with a broken arm, cracked skull and internal bleeding. And according to that testimony, Boyd would become violent when anyone went near her child, defense attorney tom dickey portrayed his client as a good single mother who worked 2 jobs, and told the court that she would not hurt her baby, so the injuries came from elsewhere, maybe someone else who may have been inside the home. Prosecutors said that the injuries described could not have come from any other source than the mother, because she had custody of the child at the time.
