Television news reports indicate that authorities have charged 32 year old Joshua Markel with allegedly smuggling contraband into the Bedford County jail. State police report that video shows Markel throwing what looks like latex gloves into jail cells, with those gloves containing tobacco products for inmates. Also, 20 white pills were confiscated inside a plastic bag. Markel reportedly confessed to bringing tobacco in to the jail and said the pills were for his own use. He is charged with possession of contraband controlled substance and possession of a non contraband substance. He is now in the Bedford County jail on $75,00 bail.
