A report out of Harrisburg states that the bill, known as the Crown Act will now prohibit anyone from being discriminated against based on the style and texture of their hair. Democratic representative Latashia Mayes of Allegheny County sponsored the bill which she states that black women have been sent home from work because of the way they wore their hair in the work place. Also in the report, 25% of black women claim that they were denied a job because of their hairstyles. The state senate will now consider the bill, and it could have a tougher time getting passed with the republican controlled senate.
