A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that the interviews identified at least 10 possible candidates to fill several vacancies within the dept. The Blair County salary board yesterday approved a 12 week training program that will pay $13.88 per hour, to train potential employees to join the 911 staff. The recent vacancies were created by resignations, changes to some full time and part time status for workers and one person left to become a sheriff’s deputy. Despite the manpower shortage, county officials say that the center continues to operate efficiently.
