According to a report by WJAC, Senate President Kim Ward says that the Senate could be called back into session sometime next month to hopefully get a deal done that will allow Pennsylvania to get funding out to schools for the upcoming year. The budget impasses began right around the June 30th deadline, when Gov Shapiro pulled back his promise of $100 million for school choice vouchers for students in under performing school districts. Democrat Senator Jay Costa of Allegheny county says that public school children should get a fair shot at at good education across the board, and the legislature should fix that problem. Republicans in both chambers say that school choice will go a long way to help solve the unequal education issue.
