Television news reports indicate that Amir Matthews is facing murder charges for the 2020 shooting death of Armel Joe in the Coopesdale section of Johnstown. A witness claimed to have heard Matthews and Joe arguing in a parking lot in the housing community just minutes before shots were fired. A second man identified as Terrel Foreman was also charged in this case, with hiding the gun that Mathews allegedly used to kill Joe. Matthews was arraigned yesterday on charges including criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment. He has been in jail in Philadelphia since January on unrelated gun charges.
