43 people charged with welfare fraud

According to the report, the state inspector general’s office has charged these people with claiming more than $202,000 for alleged benefits that they were not entitled to get. Of the 43, 41 are felony charges. Those who were charged, were not identified. The inspector general said that benefits were taken from snap, cash assistance, and or subsidized day care programs. The defendants are facing fines of up to $15,000 and 7 years in prison if convicted.
