The Altoona Mirror reports that the Superior Court upheld the sentence of 29-40 years for Michael Copley, who was convicted of murdering his wife Catherine after they attended a christmas party in December 2015. Copley along with his mother in law both reported Catherine missing on December 10th. Her body was not found until June of 2016 in a vacant garage on Pleasant Valley Blvd. DNA evidence was used to put Copley at the murder scene, and his DNA was found under his wife’s fingernails. And police also discovered that Copley’s cellphone put him near the garage at the time it was placed there. The defense claimed that some of the evidence presented at trial was inflammatory to the jury, but the superior court said no, and upheld the sentence.
