The Altoona Mirror reports that councilman Joe Carper has resigned from his seat because he and his family have moved into Logan Twp. That precludes Carper from finishing his term on council. Applications to fill the seat will be accepted by city hall beginning today, and are due by August 23rd. You can fill out an application online at the city’s website. After applications are reviewed, council hopes to appoint carper’s replacement on august 30th at a special meeting. That person will serve out the remainder of carpers term through the first Monday of January. Carper was elected to city council in 2019.
