Thomas was sentenced yesterday in Somerset County court to a term of 2-7 years behind bars for the sexual assault of a Windber woman in her home back in 2021. Thomas was accused of forcing his way into the victims home and sexually assaulting her. Thomas was also fined $1900. Attorney General Michelle Henry stated for the record that this crime is abhorrent because it was acted out by a trusted elected official. Chief deputy AG Patrick Schulte who prosecuted Thomas, said his office was delighted with the judge’s sentence. Thomas will have to register as sex offender for 15 years once he is out of prison. The defense says that this is not over, and they will appeal
