Backyard Beats Listing 8/25/23: Summer Sounds, Centre Grange Fair and a Mother Trucker Band!

Here is a listing of area live music and online music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, August 25 through Thursday, August 31.

Summer season starts to wind down for another year, and some late summer events highlight this weekend and coming week’s live music slate.

Downtown Altoona’s Summer Sounds Concert Series wraps up on Friday evening at Heritage Plaza with Autumn Rising making the music and stirring up the party, starting at 6 p.m.

This year’s Centre County Grange Fair wraps up this weekend, with country headliners Chase McDaniel and Adam Calvert performing on the Grandstand stage on Friday and Saturday night respectively. See the listing below to find out about the Grange Fair’s overall music line-up for both nights.

And coming up on Thursday to kick off the Labor Day weekend early is a special musical event at Roundhouse Harley-Davidson near Duncansville. Felix & the Hurricanes are anchoring a 10-musician local supergroup, dubbed the “Mother Trucker Band,” who will perform a tribute to the Marshall Tucker Band beginning at 7 p.m. Taking the stage in this project will be brothers Felix and Dick Kos on guitars, Jeff Clapper on bass, Jim Fungaroli on pedal steel guitar, Dave Villani on keys, Kent Martin on flute and horns, Eileen Christman on violin, Steve Oswalt on vocals, and Bob Watters and Randy Servello on drums. Admission to the event is free.

Browse the listing below to find out about all the live music options available this weekend, and – as always – SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC!
