According to a report by WJAC, officials of the Equitrans Midstream Corporation released information about a persistent gas leak that plagued parts of Cambria County. The leak was classified as “water and oxygen induced corrosion”. The leak was determined to have been one of the world’s largest, sending more than 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas into the air. The investigation at the time revealed the leak was caused by numerous violations by Equitrans corp. The company says that the leak has been repaired, and the gas well remains plugged.
