A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that current superintendent Robert Gildea has been hired to take the same position in the lower dauphin school district. Gildea has been at the helm in Hollidaysburg since 2014, when he replaced Paul Gallagher. Gildea told the Mirror that nothing has been made official, and he still needs the Lower Dauphin school board to vote him in as superintendent. Gildea has worked for 23 years in Hollidaysburg as superintendent, coach, teacher and athletic director. He is expected to be officially hired sometime before late November. Hollidaysburg will begin a search for his replacement.
