The Altoona Mirror reports that former Altoona police officer and Blair County Sheriff Mitch Cooper has been tabbed to fill the vacant city council seat left by the resignation of former councilman Joe Carper. Carper resigned earlier this year after he moved his family into Logan Twp. Cooper will serve the remaining months of Carper’s term, into January when new members of city council will be seated after the November election. Cooper was selected from a list of 12 candidates who applied to fill carpers seat.
