There will be numerous checkpoints set up this week, with both uniformed and non uniform police officers, in marked and unmarked vehicles. Also the cops in shops program will be in full force, checking to see if alcohol sales are being conducted according to law. Some of the usual tips for drivers are not to drink and drive, have a designated driver if you plan to go out and consume alcohol, wear your seatbelts, take someone’s keys whom you feel has had too much to drink, or call for a ride for them and call 911 if you suspect you see a drunken or impared driver. The task force also reminds drivers that even your prescription medications can impare your ability to drive, so check the label before taking meds before you get behind the wheel.
