The Altoona Mirror reports that the office hired 29 new employees since August 2022, and 22 of them are still on the job today. This hiring has also reduced the number of cases that were backlogged in the system, but more work needs to be done to reduce that number further. Blair County Commissioner Laura Burke says the office now has 10 full time and 7 part time caseworkers. The office has been granted a third provisional license to continue operating, and should be granted a 4th later this year, based on the number of new workers now in the office.
