In a report by WTAJ, candidate Patrick Reeder says he is the party’s choice to be on the November ballot for commissioner, but he says a portion of the party is against him running, and they say they do not support him. Reeder says since the primary, a smear campaign has taken place against him and his family on Facebook. Reeder is accused of not resigning from his job at Smithfield State Prison, but he says that is untrue. Reeder won the primary ballot by 28 votes, but some in the party say he is not their choice. A state GOP bylaw says that members must support the party candidate.
