The Altoona Mirror reports that 55 year old John Wineland of Tyrone was sentenced to serve a minimum of 9 months in the county jail for causing the standoff that lasted for some 18 hours in July of 2021. Judge Jackie Bernard sentenced Wineland to 9-24 months, but he will get credit for 6 months already served, and will have to finish out the remaining 3 months, beginning in October. Wineland was charged with making threats against his family, causing him to barricade himself inside his home. One such text message showed that Wineland threatened to kill family members. He will have to serve 6 years of probation once his prison term is up.
