News reports suggest that 20 year old Ahmed Alqubaisi waived his preliminary hearing yesterday in Centre County court. Alqubaisi is charged with hitting and killing 25 year old Lovisa Cronhamre while she was jogging along East Park Avenue in State College earlier this month. Alqubaisi was apparently driving at a high rate of speed, and on a learners permit, and did not have a licensed driver in the car at the time. His bail has been set at $3 million, the highest ever set in Centre County. He is in the Centre County jail, and had to surrender his passport, because he is considered a flight risk to go back to the United Arab Emirates.
