According to a report out of Harrisburg via the Altoona Mirror, the county commissioners association fired off a letter to the state legislature saying that counties will not have enough time after this years general election to have a march or early April primary vote. The letter stated that the counties simply would not have sufficient time to conduct all the work needed to set up and conduct a primary election, along with possibly having to find many new polling places, that are secured a year in advance of any election. A bill to move the primary to April 2nd passed the house last week, but the senate has yet to move on the bill, with Senator Joe Pittman saying that the matter is now closed, so there will be no movement on that bill. Republicans wanted a march 19th primary date. The primary is scheduled for April 23rd of next year.
