A story by the Altoona Mirror suggests that at least one state lawmaker is trying to change that that, by proposing a law that would allow criminal cases to proceed with the help of groups such as 814 Pred Hunters. Several people have recently been arrested thanks to the efforts of that group, but charges have been withdrawn because they are not considered agents of law enforcement, because they cannot pose as decoys to try and catch predators. The State Rep is Jim Gregory, who said that the bill would authorize any individual to assume the identity of a minor to help catch these people who solicit sex from children over the internet. 14 people charged with solicitation had those charges dropped.
