A report in thee Altoona Mirror indicates the school board has hired Darren McLaurin as the districts interim superintendent. This is a result of current superintendent Bob Gildea’s resignation earlier this year. Gildea is moving on to the Lower Dauphin school district to take over as superintendent. McLaurin is no stranger to this position. He was the superintendent in Claysburg from 2017-2022. He will begin tomorrow with Gildea and work with him until next Friday, which will be Gildea’s last day. McLaruin will work under a 1 year contract beginning October 30th. That will pay him $550/day, until a new superintendent is hired.
