Cambria County State Senator Wayne Langerholc says his bill would increase penalties for drivers who ignore stopping for school busses that are picking up students or taking them home. Sen. Langerholc says that the bill signed into law would suspend a drivers license for 60 days, give the driver 5 points on their license, and they would have to pay a fine of $250. Drivers must stop if a bus has its red stop lighted signs operating to pick up or drop off students. Langerholc says he is astonished at the number of drivers who simply do not stop for school busses, and drive right by them when they are stopped.
