A report by WJAC indicates that a judge in somerset county had denied an appeal made on behalf of Jeff Thomas. The former disgraced D.A. Was convicted this year of sexually assaulting a Windber woman, and sentenced to 27 to 84 months in prison. Thomas was seeking an acquittal or a retrial on those charges, but the judge said n o. Thomas claimed that the jury returned an inconsistant verdict. He w was acquitted on the most serious charges, but was found guilty of strangulation, criminal trespass, unlawful restraint, indecent assault simple assault and false imprisonment. Thomas has 30 days to appeal this denied motion to the superior court.
