State officials are recommending that babies get vaccinated for the RSV virus, now that a new formula for Beyfortus (a treatment for respiratory syncytial virus) has become available. The CDC has estimated that RSV in children under five led to up to 80-thousand hospitalizations and about 200 infant deaths last year. State officials say infants are susceptible to severe cases of the virus. The virus also has led to about 8-thousand deaths among adults who are 65 and older, per year.
