Ballots without dates should be counted, federal judge says

A report by WJAC indicates that federal Judge Susan Paradise Baxter ruled yesterday that Pennsylvania must count all ballots, regardless if they have the correct date on them or not. The ruling seems to supercede Pennsylvania state law that requires all mail in ballots to be dated and signed and turned in on time before election night is over. In her ruling, Baxter said having the date on the envelope is irrelevant in helping elections officials determine if the ballot was received on time or whether or not the voter is qualified to vote. In 2022, the U.S. Supreme court ruled that a similar argument about dates was moot, because of a 3rd circuit court ruling, and that the dates are mandatory. But yesterdays ruling went beyond the supreme courts ruling.
