So what caused a creek in Lancaster County to turn a bright green over the weekend? Authorities were called to the Little Conestoga Creek Saturday morning because the creek was glowing a very bright green. At first it was thought the green was due to an antifreeze spill, but the State Department of Environmental Protection determined the green color was caused by a green food dye spill. The DEP says the spill was accidental in nature and was not harmful.
