The Department of Veterans Affairs is being sued in federal court by one of four ambulance services, of which AMED is one. The suit is aimed at blocking a VA rule that would reduce payments for transporting veterans to community hospitals. Reportedly, if the rule is adopted AMED could lose nearly $500,000 a year. The rule was expected to go into effect next February but as a result of this suit will delay that date to February of 2025.
