A very popular attraction at next year’s Pennsylvania Farm show will be absent for the second year in a row. Poultry competitions including ducks and chickens are banned, due to the high risk of avian flu. The ban also includes the popular in-person baby chick-hatching exhibit, which will now be run virtually. The avian flu is a highly contagious fatal disease to poultry. In Pennsylvania, the disease has killed over 4 million birds. The ban is designed to protect the state’s over $7 billion dollar poultry industry. The Farm Show runs from January 6-13 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg.
