A Senate panel has voted to change the state’s D-U-I law to allow exceptions for medical marijuana patients. The Senate Transportation Committee on Tuesday approved a measure that would change the law so that medical marijuana patients can’t be charged unless they exhibit signs of impairment. The House Transportation Committee passed similar legislation earlier this week. Under current law, a driver with any trace of marijuana in their system can be charged with DUI, whether their use of the drug is legal or not.
