Infrastructure Projects in Blair County Get Millions From State

Blair County is about to receive $3.5 million dollars from the state to be used for water and sewer projects. The money will be coming from the Commonwealth Financing Authority which administers economic stimulus packages thru-out the state, as an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development. According to State Rep. Jim Gregory and State Sen. Judy Ward, the Blair Township Water and Sewer Authority will receive more than $2.5 million for construction of a wastewater system extension to, and acquisition land along Reservoir Road. Other projects in Blair County that will benefit include stormwater improvements for Gaysport and Penn Farms in Hollidaysburg, stormwater improvements along Patrick Lane and Dublin Street in Newry, and improvements to the Williamsburg Wastewater Treatment Plant. Over 400 projects in the state were approved assistance.
