Gas prices are essentially unchanged this weekend in the Keystone State. As reported by Triple-A, the average price for a gallon of regular was three dollars and 41 cents in Pennsylvania yesterday, as the national average declined slightly to three-12 a gallon. Mississippi and Texas posted yesterday’s lowest state averages, at just under two-68 a gallon. California and Hawaii are tied for the most expensive gas, with state averages over four-67 a gallon.
In the meantime, Pennsylvania drivers will see lower prices at the pumps beginning Jan. 1st. The State Department of Revenue says the gas tax is going down from 61 point one cents per gallon to just under 58-cents for regular gas. Diesel will drop about four cents. State officials say declining wholesale prices allowed regulators to decrease the price by a few cents for 2024.
