For the first “Local Song of the Week” of 2024, we spotlight Altoona’s rising young blues-rocking force Sweet Desire, with the studio video of the group’s first single, “Raspberry Joe Blues.” The song – and video – features Kid Rock’s keyboard player, Jimmie Bones, contributing on piano, and was recorded at Plymouth Rock Recording in Plymouth, Michigan (west of Detroit). As Jimmie explained, “A few months back I was called by my son Taylor who was interning at Plymouth Rock Recording to lay down a piano track for a young band Sweet Desire. When I walked in I was greeted by four serious blues rockers who reminded me of Free or Bad Company. We chatted a bit and their influences range from of course Free, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones to The Doors to Electric Light Orchestra and Jeff Lynne from whose lyrics they adopted their name Sweet Desire. Well here’s their first release available to stream and download…They’re grinding it out on the road and working hard so check ‘em out live if ya get a chance and subscribe to em on YouTube. These cats are legit!”

Michigan was good to Sweet Desire in 2023, as the group got to return on August 12 to open for the legendary Steve Miller Band at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston (also near Detroit).

Sweet Desire – singer Jordan McCaulley, guitarist Kenton Lewis, bassist Joshua Simpson and drummer Trey Boore – played numerous festivals and music venues around central PA during 2023, and are gearing up for a busy and exciting 2024!
