As a way to improve visitor safety, and cut down on traffic congestion, Raystown Lake will be implementing some changes this year. The changes will effect fishing tournament safety measures. Reportedly, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are requesting that fishing tournament directors, schedule the start and end times of their tournaments, outside of peak capacity weekend hours. Boating traffic is heaviest from 9am to 4pm, Saturday and Sunday between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend. Tournament directors wishing to schedule launch times, weigh-in’s, and prize distribution, during peak capacity hours are asked to follow safety measures that have already been established, so as to lessen the impact of their event on other lake users.
